February Wrap-up

The year is just flying! Another month gone, and we're now in the third month of 2018!

Last month, my reading was down compared to 2017. February was a great reading month for me, despite it being short! Granted, a few of them were read-alouds to my daughter, so that's how I have been able to squeeze in some extras. So far, my younger daughter has been what you would call a reluctant reader. She reads above grade level, but the comprehension isn't there. As a result, she has difficulty finding something of interest to read. I read somewhere once that there is no such thing as reluctant readers...it just means that they haven't found the right type of book. I agree with that! We've discovered that she loves the Warriors series, and now she's even using them for silent reading at school and is now reading ahead so now I'm behind, LOL! I think we'll be reading the rest of the series on our own. Now that she's found something she loves, I don't want to hold her back. I just love seeing her sitting on the couch with a book in her hand! It makes this bookworm proud :)

I finished 13 books this month. That's a record for me! By comparison, that's up from seven books in January and up from last February when I read nine books.

FOR REVIEW:

Watch Me Disappear
by Janelle Brown

A stand-out favourite was Fire and Ice by Erin Hunter. I am loving this series, and I would have devoured these books as a child! The Night Huntress series is also a guilty pleasure, so At Grave's End is another favourite.

My least favourite was A Cold Day for Murder. It was just "meh." I was hoping for more action, maybe even a bit of a survival-like story with the setting in Alaska.

I discovered five new authors, I started two new series (Korman's Island and Stabenow's Kate Shugak), I finished one series (Korman's Island series), and I continued on in three series (Frost's Night Huntress, Hunter's Warriors, and Bishop's The Others).

All of these books were backlist books, so I'm very happy with that! One of my reading goals for 2018 is to catch up on my TBR and to finish series that I've already started. I'm off to a good start, and my Goodreads goal of breaking 100 this year tells me that I'm currently five books ahead of my goal!

January Wrap-up: 7 books

February Wrap-up: 13 books
[10 shelf-love, 2 library, 1 review]

Year To Date Total: 20 books
[13 shelf-love, 3 library, 4 review]

So, how was your February? What was your favourite book? Least favourite? Please let me know in the comments! I'd love to add your favourites to my TBR :)
