#Audiobook #Review: 4 out of 5 stars for Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop #AnneBishop @PRHAudio

SERIES: The Others, Book #2
AUTHOR: Anne Bishop
NARRATOR: Alexandra Harris
PUBLISHER: Penguin Audio
PUBLICATION DATE: March 4, 2014
FORMAT: Unabridged audiobook
LENGTH: 14 hrs and 13 mins
GENRE: Fantasy/Urban Fantasy
Return to New York Times best-selling author Anne Bishop’s "phenomenal" (Urban Fantasy Investigations) world of the Others - where supernatural entities and humans struggle to co-exist, and one woman has begun to change all the rules.…

After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murder of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard - Lakeside’s shape-shifting leader - wonders if their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now, the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet - and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

MY REVIEW:

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook for voluntary review consideration.

Has it really been over four years since I devoured Written in Red? I can't believe that it's taken me so long to get back to this much-loved series.

In terms of timing, this second book in the series takes place approximately seven weeks after Meg first came to the Courtyard. It probably would have been a good idea for me to re-read Written in Red, but things came back to me as the author recapped the major events that took place in the earlier book.

The animosity between humans and the terra indigene is growing, and Meg is smack-dab in the middle of all the drama. I liked seeing how The Others protect their human pack, and they work well with Meg to decipher her prophecies. My favourite part of this book was the developing relationship between Meg and Simon. They both clearly have feelings for each other, but they are struggling with how to deal with that and what that means in terms of their friendship. I love how Bishop addresses this in their relationship.

I am determined to get caught up on this series, in anticipation of the sixth book (yes, I still have three more books to read!) expected to be released in March 2018.

Alexandra Harris is a great fit to this series, and I enjoyed listening to her again. However, her pronunciation of cassandra sangue was different in this installment compared to the first book in the series. Here is a sample of the narration:
