All the King's Men Blog Tour: Guest Post and Giveaway with Kat H. Clayton

Hi, everyone!

I am pleased to participate in the Blog Tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours for Kat H. Clayton's All the King's Men.

About Kat:
Kat has been a writer her entire life, but never pursued a writing career until the characters from a short story she wrote in high school refused to go away. Finally, she sat down and wrote their story which would became The Kings of Charleston series.

Kat has been an avid reader her entire life. She enjoys all genres, but particularly Mystery and Young Adult. Mary Higgins Clark is one of her favorite authors who inspired her love of mysteries.

When she isn't writing, Kat loves to travel, try out new recipes and hang out with her husband. She is originally from Kentucky, but currently resides in South Georgia with her husband, a cat named Frank and a dog named Lil.

Welcome to Darlene's Book Nook, Kat!

Kat has written a guest post, so I will now turn the floor over to her.

Dear Teen Me,

I have a really unique chance to impart some wisdom to you that I know you would love to have. Okay, realistically you’re probably going to laugh at any advice given from an “adult” even if it is yourself, but here goes anyway.

The key advice I have for you is to not get so hung up on boys. Yeah, I know. I can almost see your eyes rolling. Just because the cute boy said “Hi” doesn’t mean you are going to fall madly in love and get married one day. Don’t doodle your first name with his last name in the margins, it’s a serious waste of time. I’m not saying that you can’t find your soul mate in high school, but I can tell you right now yours isn’t there. He’s in a far off place just waiting for the right time, which is years from now.

So, instead of focusing on the boys and their needless drama, how about putting all your energy into swim practice? No, you don’t like that idea? I can’t say I do either even as I recommend it. Your chances of becoming as Olympian are pretty slim, and you hate the early morning practices anyway so forget that advice.

What you really should be spending your free time doing is writing. I know you do that already, but you should really spend a lot of time doing it. Why? Once everything is said and done, after you’ve gone through five hundred majors, you are going to find out that writing is where your heart is and where it has been the whole time. The other things just cluttered your brain from seeing that. So don’t worry about becoming a cardiologist, chef or public relations guru…none of them are happening. All of this is a good thing. It’s just going to take you some time to realize it.

In a nutshell, my advice to you is to write like a madwoman and stop worrying about whether the boys like you, because it doesn’t matter right now. But don’t change anything else apart from my advice, because one of the best things that is going to happen to you will happen by chance and/or fate. Stay the course when it comes to college choices, friends and extracurricular activities. All these things lead you to the person you’ve been searching for all this time. Believe me, he’s better than you could’ve ever imagined and the story of how you met him will inspire one heck of a love story.
Thanks so much for joining us today, Kat!

After a certain point, money is meaningless. It ceases to be the goal. The game is what counts.~Aristotle Onassis

There’s a mystery floating in Charleston, South Carolina and it revolves around one word…Kythera. To anyone outside the city limits it means nothing, but to those who live there it’s a word whispered in awe and respect or jealousy and hate.

Welcome to a world where money isn’t the only name of the game.

All the King’s Men is the sequel to The Kings of Charleston and continues the adventures of Casper and Cal as they try to escape Kythera and the mysterious group looking to destroy the “K”. Will they leave behind everything they’ve known or will their association with Kythera destroy them before they can escape?

The Kings of Charleston asked, are you in? All the King’s Men asks, will you survive?
