Can Sloane and James survive the lies and secrets surrounding them, or will The Program claim them in the end? Find out in this sequel to The Program, which Publishers Weekly called "chilling and suspenseful".

How do you stop an epidemic?

Sloane and James are on the run after barely surviving the suicide epidemic and The Program. But they’re not out of danger. Huge pieces of their memories are still missing, and although Sloane and James have found their way back to each other, The Program isn’t ready to let them go.

Escaping with a group of troubled rebels, Sloane and James will have to figure out who they can trust, and how to take down The Program. But for as far as they’ve come, there’s still a lot Sloane and James can’t remember. The key to unlocking their past lies with the Treatment - a pill that can bring back forgotten memories, but at a high cost. And there’s only one dose.

Ultimately when the stakes are at their highest, can Sloane and James survive the many lies and secrets surrounding them, or will The Program claim them in the end?

MY REVIEW:

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, The Program. In the second book in this series, Sloane and James have to figure out who they can trust as they try to stay one step ahead of The Program. They have a pill, known as The Treatment, which can recover lost memories but there is just one pill. So, how do you decide something like that? The Treatment can also put the person at risk, so it may not even be safe to take it. Personally, I think the pill (if it actually works) is too valuable for anyone to take. If it was me, I would rather try to get the pill into the hands of someone who can replicate it in an effort to bring down The Program.

Cas Gutierrez and Dallas Stone are sent by Michael Realm to help Sloane and James to safety. Dallas is tough and edgy, and I like that about her. My heart broke when Dallas revealed that she was raped by her handler, Roger, in The Program.

Sloane kind of went down a few notches in my eyes. I didn’t like the way that she was kind of wishy-washy with James, and that she was giving mixed signals to Realm.

There is plenty of action in the latter half of the book, and things start to unravel as we learn more about The Program through its creator, Arthur Pritchard. We also learn more about Realm, the guy I love to hate! I find the whole premise of the series disturbing, with the government basically trying to brainwash people. Young has definitely hooked me, although I felt that this wasn’t quite as good as The Program but still very enjoyable and recommended!

Joy Osmanski's narration captured the essence of Sloane perfectly! I really enjoyed listening to her.

MY RATING:

4 stars!! It was really good! You should put it on your TBR list if you enjoy dystopia.

  1. I don't know why, but I still haven't gotten around to this! I really enjoyed the first book but have just never felt the mood to read book two. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I'll have to give it a try!
