It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

This weekly meme is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.

I'm listening to:

TITLE: Gone Girl
AUTHOR: Gillian Flynn
NARRATOR: Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne
PUBLISHER: Books On Tape
PUBLICATION DATE: June 5, 2012
AUDIO: 19 hrs, 11 mins
GENRE: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
ISBN: 9780307990426

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife's head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media--as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents--the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter--but is he really a killer?

As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn't do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

I'm planning to watch the movie once I am finished the book!

What about you? Please let me know in the comments and, if you are also participating in this meme, leave me a link to your blog post so that I can stop by!

  2. I've been wanting to both read this and watch the movie. I never seem to get to it though, I should move up it up my TBR... I like a good suspenseful read with twists and it seems like this would deliver.

    1. It's been on my TBR list forever, too! I have been avoiding reading anything about the movie, so as not to spoil the book.

  3. I read the book a couple of years ago. I really didn't like it much. The characters were unlikeable, and the ending didn't satisfy me. Hope you are enjoying it more than I did!

    1. I know what you mean, Kim. I don't care for the characters, either! Hopefully, the plot makes up for it.

I read the book, then saw the movie. Liked them both...the book more, of course. Hope you like it!

  5. I enjoyed this book, if you can say you enjoyed it. The twists and turns are definitely interesting. I watched the movie afterwards. Thought it was well done but even creepier than the book. That said, I want to watch it again. Can't wait to hear what you think!
