YA Paranormal Hop: February 21st to 27th (Canada/US)

Hi, everyone!

Welcome to Stop #117 of the YA Paranormal Hop!

This blog hop is being hosted by Kathy at I'm A Reader, Not A Writer
and co-hosted by YA Between the Lines
.

Over 150 blogs are offering a book giveaway, and we are all linked up together so that you can easily hop from one giveaway to another! The hop runs from Thursday, February 21st through Wednesday, February 27th.

Details of my giveaway:

This is a "scratch and dent" hardcover that I bought from a bookstore. As you can see from the photos below, an overzealous employee sliced through the top part of the dust jacket on the upper spine. Because it is a discounted book, there is also a "remainder mark" (a small mark made with a black marker on the bottom edge of the pages) which you can also see from the photo. Other than these minor flaws, the book is brand new!

I really enjoyed this one. I rated it 4/5 stars. Click HERE if you would like to see my review.

TITLE: Marked
SERIES: House of Night, Book #1
AUTHOR: P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast
PUBLISHER: St. Martin's Griffin
PUBLICATION DATE: September 29, 2009 (first published 2007)
FORMAT: Hardcover, 306 pages
GENRE: Young Adult, Fantasy/Urban Fantasy, Fantasy/Paranormal
ISBN: 9780312360252
Enter the dark, magical world of the House of Night, a world very much like our own, except here vampyres have always existed.

One minute, sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird is a normal teenager dealing with everyday high school stress: her cute boyfriend Heath, the school’s star quarterback who suddenly seems more interested in partying than playing ball; her nosy frenemy Kayla, who’s way too concerned with how things are going with Heath; her uber-tough geometry test tomorrow.  The next, she’s Marked as a fledgling vampyre, forcing her to leave her ordinary life behind and join the House of Night, a boarding school where she will train to become an adult vampyre.  That is, if she makes it through the Change—and not all of those who are Marked do.  It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no average fledgling.  She has been chosen as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  Zoey discovers she has amazing powers, but along with her powers come bloodlust and an unfortunate ability to Imprint with Heath, who just doesn’t know how to take “no” for an answer.  To add to her stress, she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers: when she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite group, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny—with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

Since I am shipping this book myself, I am going to have to limit this giveaway to Canada/US mailing addresses only.

  2. I love YA Paranormal books. Thinking back on my favorites, I would have to go with "Poison Study" and "Cinder." In "Poison Study," there is an unexpected romance with real, deep character development. I love the character of Valek. He appears to be inhuman only to be one of the very human characters in the story. In "Cinder," I appreciate how closely the author followed the fairytale of 'Cinderella' without being confined by it. There was still a lot of freedom in Marissa Meyer's universe and I kept find myself wondering how is she going to fit that into this story?
    Thanks for the giveaway!
